Energy Saving Tips and Tricks

  • Install a smart meter to monitor your energy usage and find areas to cut down.
  • Consider upgrading to energy-efficient appliances—they may cost more upfront but save money in the long run.Tip 1: Wash clothes at 30°C instead of 40°C—it uses up to 40% less energy.
  • Air dry clothes whenever possible instead of using a tumble dryer.
  • Check for drafts around windows and doors; seal them with weatherstripping or draft excluders.
  • Insulate your hot water tank with a jacket—it can reduce heat loss by up to 75%.
  • Unplug your chargers when not in use, they consume energy even when not actively charging. 
  • Consider installing a timer on your immersion heater to use it only when needed.
  • Use the right size pan for the hob and always cover it with a lid to retain heat.
  • Boil only the water you need in the kettle—it's quicker and uses less energy.
  • Set your thermostat to 18–21°C for a comfortable and energy-efficient home.
  • Bleed your radiators regularly to ensure they heat efficiently and evenly.
